Studio City's stretch of Ventura Blvd is packed with dining options — sushi spots, burger joints, Italian trattorias, and everything in between. But when you're craving authentic street tacos that actually taste like they belong on a corner in Mexico City, the options narrow fast. That's exactly where Roadside Taco comes in.
Located at 10628 Ventura Blvd in the heart of Studio City, Roadside Taco has built a loyal following among locals, industry professionals, and visitors who stumble in after a day at nearby Universal Studios Hollywood. The reason is simple: everything here is made the right way, from scratch, with no shortcuts.
It Starts with the Tortilla
The foundation of any great taco is the tortilla, and at Roadside Taco, every single one is handmade from fresh corn masa and pressed in-house. That's not a marketing line — it's the difference between a taco that falls apart in your hands and one that holds together with a slight char and a real corn flavor you can actually taste. Most taco spots in the San Fernando Valley use pre-packaged tortillas. Roadside Taco doesn't.
Fresh Avocado on Every Taco
One of the biggest recent upgrades to the menu is fresh avocado on every taco. Not guacamole from a tub, not a smear of something that was green three days ago — sliced, ripe avocado on each order. It's the kind of detail that separates a good taco from a great one, and it's included in the price.
The Taco Lineup
Every order comes as three tacos on handmade corn tortillas, served with rice and beans for $15. Here's what you can choose from:
Chicken tacos come with grilled onions and shoestring potato fries — a texture combination that works surprisingly well. Al Pastor is the crowd favorite: marinated pork with grilled onions and sweet pineapple that caramelizes on the grill. Carne Asada gives you tender grilled steak with onions and those same addictive shoestring fries for just a dollar more per taco.
For seafood lovers, the Baja Fried Fish taco is a standout — crispy battered fish with chipotle slaw and avocado, also a dollar extra. And for plant-based diners, both the Cauliflower and Potato tacos are fully vegan, served with grilled onions and pineapple or fries respectively.
More Than Just Tacos
While tacos are the star, the full menu goes deeper. Every protein is also available as a burrito (wrapped in a flour tortilla with rice, pinto beans, grilled onions, lettuce, sour cream, and avocado salsa) or as a bowl for those who want to skip the wrap entirely. Prices range from $15 to $17 depending on your protein choice.
The Vibe
Roadside Taco isn't trying to be a fine-dining Mexican restaurant, and that's exactly why it works. The patio seating is perfect for a casual weeknight dinner or a weekend lunch with friends. The full bar — led by Bar Director Ben Goglia — serves craft margaritas made with fresh-pressed juices and homemade syrups. And the daily happy hour (Buy One Margarita, Get One for $5, every day until 6PM) makes it easy to settle in for a while.
What to Order on Your First Visit

The People Behind the Plate
Roadside Taco was founded by Vincent Laresca — an actor who poured his love for authentic Mexican street food into building a neighborhood taquería that takes its food as seriously as any high-end restaurant. Learn more about the team on the our story page.
